As a school, we work in partnership with a range of organisations to support the delivery of our ambitious curriculum, to celebrate the unique qualities of our school and to keep our children safe. Here are some examples of the awards we have received and the partnerships we are part of.
School Games Gold Award: Our extensive grounds allow us to deliver an exciting PE curriculum as well as offer lots of opportunity to be outside and engaged in physical activity. Through our active participation in the Sports Partnership our children have opportunities to take their sporting abilities to competitive events as well as trying out new sports such as rock climbing. Our educational visits to outdoor centres and the hills our local geography has to offer allow children to develop sporting interests in the scenic Morecambe Bay area.
HMDT Time: HMDT Music are a London based arts organisation who our children have worked with to perform Trench Brothers. We are now involved in Time, a three year project which looks to develop teachers teaching of Art, Music and Drama and use these subject areas to both enhance and to deliver the wider curriculum.
RHS Five Star Gardening School: All our children grow, harvest and participate in learning in our wildlife friendly and focused school grounds. Children are involved in looking after the allotments, harvesting the produce for both the school and children’s kitchen and in creating habitat for local animals.
Kidsafe UK Registered School: A trained member of staff delivers Kidsafe sessions to provide children with vital insights on keeping themselves safe (both in the real world and online) as well as the skills to talk to adults when they recognise they aren’t safe. Kidsafe sessions form part of the curriculum progression through our Health and Relationships Education.
Woodland Trust: As part of the development of our school grounds we have enhanced our wildlife area with native hedgerow planting, the fields and banks with Spring bulbs and have planted trees in recognition of the l;ocal street names and to combat climate change.
Mental Health Champions: Children’s well-being is vitally important and our school is part of a local cluster which shares good practice, prioritises children’s mental health and offers early help intervention routes for children and families in need of support.
Operation Encompass: Our school is part of Operation Encompass. This partnership means that when Police visit an incident (eg domestic abuse in the household), we are informed in a timely manner. In practice, this means that we are aware of the incident when the child attends school the next day so we can implement any necessary support straight away.
Morecambe Bay Curriculum: Our staff are involved at different levels in developing this exciting approach to learning which celebrates our diverse and exciting area. The MBC is a place based learning approach which will allow our children to learn much of the National Curriculum content through local resources (hills, streets, historical buildings, stories etc). This fits with our school ethos of relevant teaching and will make children rightly proud of the area in which they live and learn.
