Year 2
Welcome to our Yellow Class page! We have such an exciting year planned and we are looking forward to sharing our learning with you. This is the place where you will find all of the information that you need, such as our PE days and our newsletters so keep checking in to keep updated. Please ensure that your child has a coat at school as we go outside whatever the weather, especially on PE days. If you have any questions, please feel free to come and see me before or after school for a chat or call the office to make an appointment. Mrs Miller, Mrs Seredenco, and I are very much looking forward to working with you and your child this year in supporting them to continue making good progress.

Class Information
Homework:
- Reading: Please share books and listen to your child read their school book at least 4 times a week (this can be for as little as 10 minutes). Little and often with lots of praise and enthusiasm is key to developing your child’s reading.
- Bug Club: Children may also choose to read at home by logging into Bug Club here. This is a fantastic resource provided by the school with a wide range of appropriate and engaging reading material available. This should be used alongside your child’s home reading book.
- Spelling: Your child will receive a list of about 5 spellings each week. Please encourage your child to explore and practise these words at home to support them in becoming fluent writers.
- Maths: Download the 1-Minute Maths app here. It is a free app from White Rose Maths and supports the learning we do in school. Year 2 children should continue using the subitising games first. When they are confident, they can try the addition and the subtraction games for numbers up to 20 (and then doubles and numbers up to 100). They can also try the counting in 2s, 5s and 10s in the multiplication games. Again, 2 or 3 minutes a few times a week will make a really positive difference to your child’s progress in mathematics.
